
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British performer, songwriter actor, activist and actress. Her birthplace was in the London Borough Of Islington she went to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology, Croydon. Lewis became famous after she won the third and final season on The X Factor 2006 and was awarded a contract of one million pounds through Syco music. The single she won that was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment Like This" reached 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes . It topped the charts at number 1 for four weeks. In February 2007 Lewis signed a five-album contract with the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Her success continued after she debuted her first album, Spirit (2007). The album is certified platinum within the UK and became the fourth most-sold album in the 2000s. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the most successful 21st-century female debut album. Its single "Bleeding Love" was a hit for seven weeks at in the Top 10 of UK charts, also became the top-selling single of 2007. The track was also among the top-selling in 2008 as well. Lewis received an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. In 2009 she released her second studio album Echo, and recorded the title track, "I See You" to be used in the film Avatar. Lewis's song "Collide" came out as an impromptu collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and she released Hurt the EP, her first extended play. The release of her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis and her music, drawing inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. She started recording tracks for her first Christmas album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took during the middle of 2013. Following that, Christmas with Love was released, and included her lead single "One more time", reached number three within the UK. With this chart entry, Lewis made history as the only British female artist in the top five , with eight singles. This was more than Olivia Newton-John's record of seven.
